Poly methyl meth acrylate is a transparent thermoplastic often used as a lightweight shatter-resistant alternative to glass.

The reason to use PMMA in 3D Printing is because its transparency, surface quality & mechanical properties are very comparable to Poly Carbonate. But PolyCarbonate is quite hard to work with on machines that don’t have high temp capability, & thats where PMMA comes into play.

We have had good results printing it just like PETG.

Description

PMMA is transparent in sheet form.
Its also known as acrylic, acrylic glass, or plexiglass.
Popular brand names include Crylux, Plexiglas, Acrylite, Astariglas, Lucite, Perclax, and Perspex.
Once 3D Printed, it tends to become more translucent, much like all FDM materials after they are extruded.

PMMA was also tricky to work with in the past due to warping, but with this new formulation we feel we have got a very well made PMMA 3D Printing Filament for New Zealand makers.

Its not a beginner material, but certainly a great addition to your collection.
