PLA Light Weight is a specialized filament that allows its density to be adjusted using temperature.

It was originally designed for aeromodelling to make light weight aeroplane & drone hulls.
But it has been very successful as a casting pattern in lost wax style casting processes.

Initially, we used standard PLA for lost wax casting patterns.
But since PLA-LW is lower density, there is less PLA to burn out.
This makes much cleaner patterns & has far reduced ash in the process.

So whether its light weight components for general parts, or metal casting patterns, PLA LW is a great material.

Description

Esun PLA-LW Light Weight PLA filament

LW-PLA is a foaming PLA, meaning that we can reduce its density by printing it at a hotter temperature.

ePLA Light Weight is ideal for creating high-performance, low-weight components, enhancing both the efficiency and performance of aeromodelling projects.

With excellent burn out capability, this material is very good for lost wax casting patterns to make metal parts using common FDM 3d printers.
ePLA-LW allows for 40% less material, so your burn out is that much cleaner thanks to reduced ash.

Thanks to its active foaming technology, it produces exceptionally lightweight and low-density parts.
The density of the material is controlled by increasing or reducing foaming, which is done by controlling the temperature.

Higher the temp = Lower the density.

This advanced material features stable interlayer bonding and allows for precise control over foaming rates and strength by adjusting the printing temperature.
