Colorfabb Light Weight PLA filament reduces weight of printed parts by 65%, by allowing its density to be adjusted based on printing temperature.Lowest density at maximum expansion 0.403 – 0.476 g·cm⁻³.
Print 2–3 times more parts compared to regular non expanding materials.
It was originally designed for aeromodelling to make light weight aeroplane & drone hulls. But it has been very successful as a casting pattern in lost wax style casting processes. Initially, we used standard PLA for lost wax casting patterns. But since PLA-LW is lower density, there is less PLA to burn out. This makes much cleaner patterns & has far reduced ash in the process. So whether its light weight components for general parts, or metal casting patterns, try PLA LW for your next project. -
